The BU-2001 Block Molding Machine is a conventional, vacuum assisted block mold that has been the standard of the industry, producing high quality Expandable Polystyrene blocks for many years. The base frame is of heavy structural steel construction and supports the steam system and steam chest. The steam chest is of modular construction with outside walls of cast aluminum and inside walls of teflon coated aluminum. Because of the modular construction, molding machines of different lengths can be constructed. It is also possible to add length to existing Tri molding machines. The inside wall of the steam chamber is constructed of ¼ aluminum plate on the side walls, and 3/8 aluminum plate on the top, bottom, and end walls. Plates contain 1/16 steam holes on one inch centers. Venting is provided by either 12mm pin hole core vents or ½ slotted core vents as specified by the customer. Expanded material is gravity fed to the block mold from the bead basket above. The basket moves up and down to allow the lid to open and close. Once the steam cycle is complete, the block is released by the lid opening and front wall retracting. The completed block is ejected out of the end door by a ram cylinder at the head end of the steam chest. The steam system consists of a 6 diameter, center fed steam header on each side of the steam chest. Steam is controlled by a Kaye & MacDonald steam valve and operates in conjunction with pressure switches and timers in the main control panel. Steam flow enters the chest through a series of 2 diameter steam lines, each line feeding two lineal feet of the mold (width of one casting). Steam flow to each section can be manually controlled by a ball valve. Steam is drawn from the mold by a 5 HP vacuum blower to assist in the cooling of the block. Water is drained from the steam chest through a series of 1 diameter drain lines that converge into a 2 diameter drain header. Mold pre heat is controlled by a variable timer, while the molding cycle is controlled by a photohelic pressure switch, and a variable timer which steps to a pressure holding timer, and finally to a drain timer.BENEFITS AND OTHER FEATURES
