| 123 | PURPOSE The CPIU provides for accelerated processing of Expandable Polypropylene and Polyethylene over conventional methods. The CPIU processes these materials at or below * the specified density, allowing more flexibility than the standard procedure. It can be used as a tool to help with density variation, material stratification in storage and overall material quality at molding. PROCESS The CPIU utilizes a unique patented (U.S. Patent No 6,020,388) process which allows the material to react as though it were processed in a tank farm. The material is treated in a gentle, non-damaging environment during processing which allows for maintaining of the cell structure and integrity. Material processed in the CPIU reacts the same during molding as material processed in the conventional manner. CONTROL Both units feature state-of-the-art controls and a highly efficient mechanical design. The CPIU utilizes a process/storage and storage area allowing the molder versatility and variability of demand with no adverse material effects. The ability of storage in the process allows the unit to hold material ready for process without the concern of run away processing. The unit offers a sleep mode allowing it to hold the material until needed. Once the demand is increased, the CPIU will begin processing automatically providing a continuous supply of material without the need for constant attention. Pressures and heat are maintained electronically with a purpose repetitive root - locus PID loop to ensure proper control at all times. The mechanical design allows integration of control and valving into the structure of the machine making for ease of access and maintainability. The graphic interface allows the operator a user friendly environment with familiar PC type menus and simple help screens. Start up and shutdown can be accomplished with the ease of push button access. An extensive diagnostic feature assures reliability and pin-point indication of any malfunction.UNIT SIZES There are two sizes of processing units currently available, with specialized units available by request. The CPIU-3 is a single tank unit with a capacity of up to 125 cft per hour **. The CPIU-6 is a dual tank unit with centralized control and utility distribution offering a capacity of up to 250 cft per hour ***. Both units are available in 60 psi or 100 psi ****.
MISCELLANEOUS The units are fabricated and assembled in the USA with unsurpassed workmanship by Tri Technologies. Both foreign and domestic parts are integrated into the CPIU to ensure the use of the finest, highest quality components. Customization and overall quality is maintained by on site welding, fabrication, panel assembly, electrical wiring and final assembly. The frames are welded construction with a powder color base paint and acrylic coating. All delivery piping is stainless steel. Tanks are manufactured by an ASME certified vendor and all documentation is supplied with the unit and on file.
